2026 February 23

Did you know that one New Zealander dies from heart disease every 90 minutes? That's why we are taking time to acknowledge February's National Heart Health Awareness Month.

By being proactive and looking after your heart health, you help reduce the risk of succumbing to the biggest cause of death in New Zealand.

Here are a few things we recommend -

  • Check your estimated heart age using the Heart Foundation’s free online tool - https://myheartcheck.org.nz/
  • Have regular blood pressure checks. Some pharmacies in New Zealand offer this for free or you can purchase your own machine for home for around $80.
  • Eat a heart healthy diet. Here are some nutritious recipes to try -https://www.heartfoundation.org.nz/wellbeing/healthy-recipes
  • And, of course, we all know the usual tips about exercising regularly and keeping our stress levels down!

Whatever small steps you take, your heart will thank you for it.
